Default Happy with Lowrance LMS-337 and Fishermans

I have read some posts on here complaining of both service and selection at one of local major sporting goods stores. My Mother always told me "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".

A few weeks ago I decided to shop for a new fish finder. I was torn as to what I really wanted and what I really needed. I shopped around a bit before going to Fishermans in Oregon City. I have a really hard time parting with my hard earned cash. The guy at the counter answered all of my questions for over an hour. I don't remember his name but he really seemed to know what he was talking about. He didn't try to push me into something I didn't need. After an hour and a half I decided on a Lowrance LMS-337. It's a fish finder but also has GPS and mapping. I put it in the boat the same day I got it. I am very pleased with the performance so far.

I guess the reason I'm writing this is because it's refreshing to still be able to get great service and good products.

The only bad thing is that I got cut off for over a week due to the amount of money I spent. I guess when you say your going to spend a couple hundred, and come back spending $650....you get put in the dog house.

Well, I guess your moniker fits then. That only lasts a week. A good fish finder is forever, er, until the next boat forever.

I had a Lowrance X71 put on my boat when I bought it new almost 3 years ago.

Here's some good news about your purchase of a Lowrance. Maybe it'll help get you back in good graces with the spousal unit.

Don't know if other manufacturer's do this or not, but the sonar on my X71 (ff, no gps) went silent a week ago. The speed and temp worked fine, but the sonar/ff stopped functioning.

I called Lowrance and they told me to send it back to them and include a check for $99.95. They will either repair it like new, or replace it with a new unit, and they said this was SOP for any unit they make. This is after the warranty has expired of course. They also add a new 6 month warranty on the repaired unit, and they said turnaround time was a week to 10 days....

Best of luck with it.....

That is a great unit. I know I have the 335CE which is the same unit just last years model number. I hope you spent the extra money for the map chip. The GPS works fine without it but the map is awesome!!

I also purchased a Gold map chip that includes the coast, Columbia, and willamette. It is by far the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. If it's nice this weekend I'm thinking of fishing out of Depoe Bay. It will ease my mind having the GPS / mapping. I don't think a lot of people really know the current products that are out there and what they do. I had no idea before I started looking around.
