Default Long Time Member Dab... RIP

Oh my word. I can't believe this. (Read Ryan's post, there)
Long time member Dab had a heart attack and went home to be with his Father, yesterday.
Dab was the kind of ifisher that made ifish what it is, today.
This is the kind of thing that just stops me in my tracks.

Dab is what ifish is all about.

In the front is Ryan Pultz and his wife. In the back is Donald A. Bench (Dab) and his wife.

Please take a moment of silence in your day for Ryan's "Dad", Dab.

Ifish just won't be the same without the banter between the two "boys" on the board, Ryan Pultz and Dab.

As Ryan stated earlier, he's the only Father Ryan ever felt he had.

Please take a minute and write a memory of your memories of Donald A Bench, aka "Dab".

Dab joined ifish in 2002, and had over 10k posts.

Tears,
Jen

Thank you Jennie Don loved ifish from the day I introduced him to it and would log in and try and help people on here every single day. Thank you all for the support. My son Daniel DABs grandson and closest fishing partner, you all know him as The Boy, has been reading your kind words and could use your prayers. Thanks Ryan Joyce and The Boy Daniel

Sorry to hear about your loss. I had the opportunity to meet Don more than once for classifed transactions. I enjoyed meeting him and shooting the breeze. Best wishes to you and the family as you face the future obstacles without Don's years of wisdom and guidance.

As I posted on the other thread, I had the privilege of meeting Don and Linda when they visited my Church. That brief encounter plus all the great posts on Ifish made me feel that I knew him. What a great guy! Ryan, Joyce, and Linda I will pray for your comfort. I know the Lord will help you, but it's still a very hard thing to go through. Ryan it is obvious from your friendly banter back and forth with your Father in law (Father) that you loved each other. I will also pray for your son who loved his Grandpa.

It's pretty clear from all the posts on Ifish that he was a respected and appreciated man.

35 years ago when I walked into church for the first time a guy walked up to me and introduced himself to me as Don Bench a short chubby guy with dark haired guy with a combover back then, we talked a little then he presented me with God's plan for Salvation it was the first time I had ever heard of such a thing and the seed was planted. We quickly became friends and started hanging out together we spent countless hours hunting, fishing and driving up and down dirt roads together. He was the most stubborn, one way, opinionated person with a heart of gold I have ever met and he was my best friend. My wife and I were at his house the night before he passed for dinner and cards we all had a good time and I will cherish that. He died at Chinook Landing doing what he loved and to me that seems fitting.
I miss you Don I know where we are are God willing we will meet again.

I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Ifish helped me in my time of loss and hopefully you will gain some measure of solace from the replies here over the next few days. Take care!

Hey, I don't know you or DAB personally, but I will say I was aware of DAB online and considered him in the 'corps of solid iFish member' club for sure. Terrible loss for all.

My condolences to you and the family for losing the man in life.

Maybe those more familiar with DAB and his posting habits could thread up some links to the better DAB iFish posts over the years for a fun 'celebrate the memory of' project.
