Default News in the Oregonian today regarding tags

As a bow hunter I have no problem reporting my hunts (mandatory reporting) but what about rifle hunting reporting? The paper did not mention any thing about rifle reporting was that a over sight by the paper. I was under imnpression that madatory reporting was in favor by all the hunters? That what the OFWD needs is good numbers??? Did I miss some thing here.

PS I am in favor of requiring bow hunting saftey class for all bowhunters. If you want to hunt with a bow out of state in most western states you have to have it.

I haven't seen the article, but would hope that mandatory reporting for rifle hunters would be at the top of the priority list. Everyone should do their part to help get a better idea of what's going on out there these days.

We've kicked this wildlife biology question around before and it seems to come down to them making boneheaded decisions based on economics, and not on what is best for the resource. How else do they justify selling so dang many cow and doe tags?

When most of us are getting our animals once every 2 years or so, that will be defacto evidence of reasonable management practices. As it is, many of us go out year after year and might see 1-20 cows in a week. We used to hunt Halfway and would ROUTINELY see 150-200 cows in a week, and 10 guys would tag out. Heck, I rarely see 10 animals hanging in 100 camps any more!
