Took my 17 week old choc. lab pup out for her intro to guns today at the clay range at Sauvie. On the way out at about 730pm, there was a flock of about 15 birds feeding in a disked field right next to road, just south of the west unit's boundary (the dike). Saw another flock of about 20 take off from the Multnomah Channel about a mile down river of the Sauvie Island bridge, too.
BTW the pup did awesome. Didn't even flinch once and couldn't wait to get out to retrieve those broken things fallen from the sky.

(I had a friend shooting while I was handling her and then leashed her up while I took a go at it. She was none too happy that she couldn't go get the clays.) Hopefully she will make an easy transition to the real thing.
(Looked for doves and saw exactly 0).
