Default Iraq

So who is winning over there ?

How long before our men come home ?

You don't hear about the war much. Not the hot item it was a couple of years ago. I bet it aint much better for our
soldiers.

We owe it to them not to forget what they are doing ?

I don't think we have seen the worst of it yet !

Iraqi insurgency 'undiminished'

Myers insisted the number of attacks did not reveal the full picture
Militants staging attacks in Iraq are as strong now as they were a year ago, America's top soldier has said.

How we seem to so easily forget there is a war going on....................
If you think things are getting better look how long they have been going at it in Palestine. 50 years.
Do you think this can't happen in Iraq...The you know little about the culture....

So what's my point....?

This war is going to go on long after the 2008 elections

The Iraqi's are winning the war. They now have a democratically elected government. They are drafing a constitution that includes rights for all of the Iraqi citizens, not just the Sunni's.
How long did U.S. troops stay in Japan and Germany after WWII. How long did they stay in Korea after the Korean conflict. Sure the insurgency is still a major problem, but in my opinion, the free will of the Iraqi people will eventually rid itself of that problem. Providing that the U.S. continues to train Iraqi security forces. Plus take a look at the rest of the region. Afghanistan recently held free elections. The Palestinians just freely elected a new leader. There is democratic reform in both Egypt & Saudi Arabia. Between Afghanistan and Iraq alone, 56 million people have been liberated from tyranny and now have a choice to their future. How can that be wrong? I grieve for the loss of lives, especially the American lives, I have two son's old enough to serve and while I might not be real comfortable with them going over there, I sure would support them and be extremely proud that they are serving our nation, as I am for every sailor, marine, soldier or airman that has ever worn a uniform. Thank God for them. Just to be sure, I'm not bashing anyone because I know what a hot button topic this is. I guess I'm just saying that I support our efforts overthere and our troops 100%.

I think people in high places aren't as opposed to this war as the rest of us since they don't have kids being sent to war... what is their collateral damage?

A friend is being sent back for another year over there - he has kids and a wife... there are others that have not been, are qualified for the task, don't have kids that are not being sent. Tell me where this makes sense.

He was told 2 months before serving a total of 13 years that he had to go back to Iraq for a second one year term or get stationed elsewhere. He chose elsewhere and moved his whole family to Germany for the minimum of 3 years. Five months later he got orders to go back to Iraq after getting relocated to Germany. :depressed:

I don't support this war.

I do support and thank those troops who have stepped up to serve and are serving for their sacrafice and pray they get home safely and soon to their friends and families.

I didn't mean to make it sound political.

I used Bush's name as a time reference only.

"The war will go on long after he leaves office" in not an indictment of his Presidency.

I just don't want people to forget that a war is going on.
Don't forget to support our troops.

It’s going well and that is precisely why there is nothing to report. You know darn well the liberal media will never report on anything that favors our efforts in Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom. They will never report any good that has become of this administration's so called oil war.

Time for me to shut up, blood pressure elevated.
