No. Oregon does not have any good Dove hunting!
1. You have to have a good year weatherwise.
2. Know a farmer that has the best crop circumstances.
3. Know a farmer who cannot effectively transfer wheat seed without spilling it all over the place.
Actually overall, I still think that Oregon does not have good Dove hunting.
Now Yuma Az, that's another matter!

We have had good success dove hunting in NW oregon. You have to find where they are feeding and watering though. For us, they tend to feed in clearcuts that are over-run by thistles. They eat the thistle seeds.

Water is usually close by, In our case it is usually beaver ponds or gravel bars, and you get your best shooting in the evening when they come to water.

Good Luck,

Aaron

There are lots of doves down here but there are more NO TRESPASSING signs. We usualy have a freeze that drives them out before the season opens too. There are a few water holes that are huntable on public land that are good for a few evenings.

Denman Wildlife Refuge near Central Point offers good shooting early in the season.

Most all of my old hunting grounds are now Walmarts, condos or posted.

Buddying up to a large land owner with some feed near water and cover is the probably the best bet other than the refuge.

The irrigation water is adequate but the lake level is droping and they reduced the flow down the canyon (this is something that happened before the dam naturally this time of year). I haven't checked the temp of the lake but it probably is in the high 70's. They closed down the Wocus Bay canoe trail due to low water in the lake. Not all but many water users are trying to reduce their water use. I have the head gate for my ditch shut down to the minimunm flow that my pump can handle.

The stock tanks (ponds) on government land are mostly dry with the exception of the ones that are spring fed.

Overall the basin appears much greener this year but the non irrigated lands are verry dry.
No fires close yet.

Good dove hunting on the eastside between Dufur and Tygh Valley. Mostly private, but there is some public access. I'll be there later in September for them. Anywhere out in the high desert that has a water hole is likely to get some doves. Definately go early for the best hunting though.

Willamette Valley has good dove hunting. Many grass seed farmers will give you a pass if you just ask. Unlike goose or duck, you usually on the edge of a field and not tromp'n thru. I use to sit in my back yard in Albany and pass shoot just off the edge of rye grass fields.
Good luck. Oregon Seed Trade Assoc.
