Default Salty shake down 1st day

We started out on Friday. Gary G, and Bugleman met me at the beach to get 'Kismet' out for her first salt of the year. Gary is the guy who so graciously lent me the use of his shop to store our boat over winter and who tolerated the odd hours and many days of the electrical refit work.

Thanks Gary and that is the first of many trips to come. I might even let you buy some gas at some point but for now your money is no good on our boat. We got a late start but went out for some crab setting 8 pots north of the jetty. The boat ran sweet and the ocean was all of the prediction 2 and 4. Probably more like 3 and 4.

Then a little herring jigging in the bay. The herring are in if you can be there on the right part of the tide. We got a few dozen and Salty Walty generously gave us more than enough for the trip Saturday.

At about 4 we went out and gave the Salmon a try. I just went west for 160 ft of water and we drifted for an hour or so to no avail. We got a few crabs on the way in and quit at dark. We had no huge problems but the easy steer link needs adjusted and the shifter does not work right from the bridge. Other than that not bad for the first salt.

Thanks guys for your excellent help and I am looking forward to doing it again.

Sounds like a nice day.

So what work did you do over the winter besides the elec re-work?

Kevin,

Not there yet. The shifter still needs an adjustment, never touched it. The link works better but I need to tighten the slip joint and replace the link mount on the kicker. The one it has now is a cheap, floppy piece of junk.

Thanks for your help Friday.
