Strawberries at Freddies--
Half a crate for under 4 bucks, and they are really good this year, due to all the rain they got. They are ALMOST like Oregon berries.
Pig out! Time for shortcake!
By the way, the best shortcake is Bisquick drop bisquits, IMHO!
Serve it warm and make sure you get lots of syrup to sog it up really good! YUM! NO COOL WHIP... REAL whipped cream, please.

Re: Strawberries at Freddies--
Don't get me wrong. They are still California berries, but they are better than the usual straw-tasting California berries!

Re: Strawberries at Freddies--
The wife and I stopped to check them out. Bought two half flats. They are good for California berries. More shortcake tonight.

Re: Strawberries at Freddies--
My wife says I am strange for the way I eat strawberry shortcake, I put the shortcake in a bowl and put lots of strawberries over it and then pour half/half on it. Please tell me I am not as strange as my wife says i am.???

Re: Strawberries at Freddies--
If you're strange then so am I!! Only heavy cream is even better. Growing up on a farm with a milking cow really can spoil you!! Skim that top cream off and put it on shortcake or chocolate cake, talk about killer!!

Re: Strawberries at Freddies--
Probably from Oxnard (Ventura County). They can be pretty good if they get a little sun.

Re: Strawberries at Freddies--
I agree!
They looked so good so I bought some and they WERE good!
Not saw dusty and coarse.
I eat mine the way you do Brown Trout( great fish moniker by the way.)
Soak it up and pour them on top! Delicioso!
Strawberries would be one of my foods of choice if I were stuck on a deserted island ( I play that game a lot)
I'm going to the store!

Re: Strawberries at Freddies--
I'm on the Atkins diet. No strawberries, shortcake, cheesecake or pancakes for me. :depressed:

Re: Strawberries at Freddies--
My Mom and my Mom's brother were raised on a farm. They'd have pancakes with that heavy lumpy cream on top. YUCKO!
All of the kids in the family thought they were nuts. Luckily, they didn't make us eat it.
Still, I grew up seeing that, and had cream offered to me on everything from cereal to shortcake to pancakes.
Heavy cream was a staple at our house. Never did grab me.
How much do I get for the Freddies ad?
Jen
