Well I finally got the thing to the range last week. This first outing was a little laborious due to the fact I was breaking in a new barrel. You know how it goes, shoot one shot then clean, shoot one shot then clean, times the first 10 rounds. Then clean after every 3 rounds. My brother who was with me didn't seem to mind though because it gave him more bench time while I was cleaning and cleaning........

.
As for the results. All shots were from a bench using sand bags for a rest. I have not bought a new scope yet so I mounted a bushnell Banner I had on the rifle using leopold rings and bases. 180gr Winchester ammo was the lead throwers I used this trip.
The first shot out of the new tube was about 5 inches high and right of the final grouping. It took about 5 rounds for the groups to start, moving steadly right and down and then it settled in nicely. after that all rounds hit in about a 2.5" circle with about 5 rounds touching other holes! Not bad if I do say so myself. Did one 3 shot string at the end of the day out to 200 yards and was able to pull off about a 2.5 inch group.
Trigger pull was not as smooth as I would have liked and a little on the heavy side for bench shooting. I may have finnally invest in a good trigger scale and change it for bench work. The current setting is probably good for hunting though. Feel of rifle was excellent. The palm swell makes a big difference. Recoil was solid but not painfull. Well, at least not till the 6th or 7th round. Will not be doing 50 round days with it anyway.
Overall I have a very positive feeling after its virgin outing. Does not look like acuracy is going to be an issue at all. I believe I should be able to gett better groups after the rifle and I get to know each other better and I start reloading for it. I'll report again after I have a few more boxes through it.
BlueWater.
P.S. I promiss I wil not be so long winded next time.
