Default Hello From Neah Bay!

Went out of Neah Bay for the last two days. Weather was beyond great! Nearly flat seas with little or no wind chop. Problem was that made it so I could go really fast and that burned a lot of fuel. :depressed: Fishing was a bit slow the first day. Three hali's and near limits of bass and 2 small lings. Next day as you can see was a bit different. Although small, there were scads of the hali's on the bottom. Instant hook ups and smiles all around. A nice ling or two also were caught. And yes some yelloweye's! They were kept also. Seems what I thought was right and enforcement officers are not sure what the court ruling means here in Washington pertaining to the importation of closed season speices from Canada. Anyway it was a bit slow up there for such a nice weekend so I guess the "boycot" may be working some. Slips were easier to come by though so I dont mind!

The boat is a 2601 and it has a Yamaha 225 pushing it.

Tracker that is some good stuff you are showing us. Nothing like calm seas and biteing fish. How deep do you fish up there, weight size, bait of choice, etc. You guy's are just a glow with joy. I hope our halibutt opener dowe the same down here.

The fish in the pictures were at about 450 to 500 feet. We were fishing with no more than "2lbs" of weight as according to Canadian law, but I would guess that some of those leads used might have gone a bit more. Fish were all in the 15 to 20 pound range. Normally catch a much heavier weight hali there but no one was complaining. We used no bait at all. All plastics. B-@ squids to be exact. I think though that anything dropped to the bottom would have drawn a strike. Weather seems to be holding so I am off to the grounds again next friday and then Hood canal shrimp on saturday!
By the way did you all notice the salty dog flag?
