Default COAST GUARD CITY - NEWPORT, OR.

Today at a ceremony in Newport, the Commandant of the Coast Guard and the Congress of the U.S. have designated Newport, OR. as a "Coast Guard City." Of the almost 400 cities in which the Coast Guard serves there are only five other cities which have received this honor. This designation goes to cities which give a tremendous amount of support to the members of Team Coast Guard who are stationed there. This includes the Active Duty, Reserves, members of the Auxiliary, and their families. This is a way that the Coast Guard says Thank You to these cities.
This recognition comes at a time when we also celebrate Loyalty Day and Seafood Festival. A parade will start at 1200 Saturday on HWY 101 and the Coast Guard Cutters HENRY BLAKE AND ORCAS along with Stations Depoe Bay and Yaquina Bay will be hosting an Open House on Saturday from 1000-1600. (Although the HENRY BLAKE will be departing for other duties later Saturday evening) Both cutters are moored at Port Dock One. Come on down and take a look at these cutters and stations.
Thank you to everyone from Depoe Bay and Newport for the wonderful support you give to Team Coast Guard. R. Glasgow

Very cool!
I spent time on your ocean(Commercial fisherman) and never needed your expertise.
However, I have had many friends that did. Some made it, some didn't. Luck of the draw I guess.

My Father is owner/ operator of Bittler Bros. Sporting Goods in Newport, and I have a guest pass for you, for some fishing fun. Please go see him! Ask for Joe. He will know!
Thank you for your service!
Happy Fishn, and have fun in the Parade! --------~<{{{><
