Default Power pro for flat lining plugs

Hey guys, just a quik question for ya.
I know that ideally a guy should use mono for flatlining plugs,(trolling wind-drano) but will braid work, i currently have 65, lb power pro on my boat rods, and was wondering if this is a bad idea, was thinking of putting a bead chin to the mainline, and runing a 6-8 ft. mono leader.
Any sugestions?
Brian

I usually run a 4-5' 30# mono leader on my 50# Tuffline. Softer plug rods (soft tip, lots of backbone) can make difference as well in taking up the shock of the hit. Good luck.

Thats all we use is power pro 30lb on our plug rods no mono and our hook up rate is very good. Just lightin up the drag a little small dia gets them plug down were they need to be and I think you get more action from the plug because the braid has less resistance in the water. I have not used mono in years.

I agree with Just Fish. I put 30# pp on my calcutta 251 and use that for trolling plugs. It works great. I also use a more limber rod - partly because of the give it allows during the initial take of the fish and also because it's more fun to fish with lighter gear. No current or sea lions to worry about at Drano or Wind River!!
