Default Anyone hunting the bear opener?

Just curious if anyone is going to be hunting the upcoming bear season. I plan on hunting the siskious. Never been their before, but want to scout it out for archery deer season.

I may regret saying this, but if anyone wants to kill a bruin here after august 1 I can show some people the way. I have too many around my elk hunting areas right now to deal with. I see 4-5 a night usually scouting for elk right now. I wouldn't spend a whole lot of time with you besides showing you the way (my tuna bug is infesting right now) but if the water is rough I can go too. I'm not a guide so don't worry about money, just an offer to anyone wanting to come south and kill one of those nasty critters.

Well for now I think Drunk Cowboy has the last slot. I want to get rid of these buggers but don't want to use up all of my free time also. Drop me an email cowboy, so we can work out a time and place. I would advise everyone to be as close to Aug 1 as possible. The less they're fired on the dumber they will be. Plus being a thurs. no one will be out and about. If I start seeing a bunch more I'll let everyone know. Tailchaser out!

Crayfin,

If any of those guys need someone to hunt with I would try and pair up with them. I'm trying to encourage them to be able to bring someone to hunt with because my time will be limited on that saturday with halibut and tuna. If no one comes for the opener on thursday however, that might be a time I could slip you in there.

Tailchaser,

What will be the furthest shot I will be taking. I have a 300 winchestor mag that I love, but if I am over 450- 500yds then I will bring the 30-378 weatherby mag

Cowboy,

A .300 is well suited for anything around here. That's my gun of choice as well. Typical shots are 300 yards. I went out last night and saw 3 bruins, and 4 bulls. One of the bulls was a 7x8. A real dandy. 2 of the 3 bears were s******* also, the berries are coming out a lot so the black critters will be right behind them.

Tailchaser,
Holy cow, that is a large Bull. In truth, the only thing I care about are the Bruins

It would be cool to see a 7X8

Tailchaser,

There are a lot of bears in that area. I've hunted around Tahkenitch Lake before and can't believe the bear and bear sign I'd see. You'd see 4 to 5 a day easy. That is some thick country though. I'll stick to my eastern Oregon spring bear hunts or picking one up while elk hunting in the cascades. I might bring the rifle along this year while grouse hunting outside of Tiller. Saw quite a few bears up there last year but only every had shotguns.

Jellyhead - You want some tips on some spots in the Siskiyous I might be able to help you out. Lots of bears up there. Good luck to you guys.
