Default Ports for Halibut

I've fished for Halibut out of Depoe Bay at the Ranch, however this year I considering going from Newport or Garibaldi.
What is the area outside Garibaldi called and
how is fishing that location similar/different from
the Chicken Ranch. Points of comparison are fish size,
depth, size of the fishing ground, and any other distinguishing features.

I have been wrong in the past but, I think they call it the Pacific Ocean

Seriously though - I think they call the honey hole out of Garibaldi Halibut Hill, I know its a few hundred feet deeper than the Chicken Ranch, about the same mileage from port.

For being the first person to respond

For content of the joke

For the revelation of having to drop 2-4 lbs of lead
a few hundred more feet.
Man, that litle 2.8:1 reeling ratio is gonna hurt.
I give you Sore Arm award.

I can tell you that at Halibut Hill last fill, we caught one fish that was hooked at 880 feet, a record for my boat and a long way down. Unless you want to fish that kind of depth, it is certainly easier and almost as close to fish the Chicken Ranch. Just my 2 cents.
