Default Wanted: Pheasant and chukar hunting spots.

I am looking for places to hunt. Maybe go together with others to lease a place if necessary. Anyone have any ideas?

Hey I don't think I'd like to join in on a lease but for public land hunting I've had good succes in the painted hills area around mitchel. Take along the camera also, there are some *******' old homesteads and stuff like that. Watch for the chula cactus though man do they smart! I like to hunt in the heat of the day along the creek bottoms that have rocky hillsides leading down to them. Good luck!

TJ,

90% of the pheasant hunting in Oregon is on Private land (if not more). So your best bet is a lease or knocking on doors.

Chukar is a different story, Most of the Eastern 'Canyon country' has good chukar. John Day, Deschutes, Owyhee BLM lands are full of 'em. You'll earn your shots though hiking those canyons. Get some BLM maps and go scout em out.

I would like to hunt around Prosser. If you need an extra gun and a couple of well trained dogs, let me know.

Hate to jump on the band wagon here, but it sounds like you've got a good thing going up there. Let me know if you could ever use another gun and a well trained shorthair! thanks

For close to home Vancouver lake plants birds every tues and Fri. But for the best for the money Pendleton Indian Reservation has 666000 acres and a yearly permit is only $11.50 Avoid the opener but the rest of the year is great as they put out about 20000 a year and there are alot of big bird carry over along the river. Wade the river and shoot on the little islands Great Hunting. Also, over in the Nyssa-Vale area there is a little league asociation that sells a button for $20 and gets you on to about 25 beet farms. once again avoid the opener and you will be pleased
