Default Tillamook Bay Sturgeon

I am planning on going down to the bay tomorrow with a fellow Ifisher and try, yet again, for some sturgeon action. I have been targeting these elusive creatures for quite some time with no success. My boat is only 14 feet and I don’t feel comfortable in the Big C. I have spent many hours on Tillamook Bay and know a good portion of it , I’ve got a handle on some of the basics: sand shrimp / eel / herring, on the edge of deep holes where food would be deposited, start higher in the bay, move down as the tide goes out, move every half hour if no action… But I’ve had no success so far. I was hoping some of my fellow Ifishers would clue me in on some tips or techniques that would help my chances of success.
I would appreciate any info from the basics to advanced ideas.
Thanks in advance,
OregonRodnReel

hit the west channel. make sure that you have operational depth finder as there are some shallow spots along the way. was talking with a buddy who was out Sunday and he said that the crab were pesky. you want to make sure you bring lots of wedding veil and stretchy string to prolong the bait situation. you will want to be south of crab harbor quite a ways and you should bump into some action....sand and mud shrimp tend to do the trick here.
good luck

Well... it was a good day, dispite the wind and rain. We were on the water around 6:30 and anchored up in the West channel for the outgoing tide. We did spot fish, and had a few strikes, but nothing stuck.
Thanks for the info.
