Jack Counts and the 11 day theory
Noticed that 4100 fish went over the dam yesterday, so it looks like the 11-day theory is holding. However, I started thinking about Jack counts and what they might or might not tell us. My understanding of Jacks is that they peak much later than adults in terms of run timing. For example, adult springers peaked around the 23-24 of April in 2004 (10,000 fish days). Jacks peaked in mid-May at about 400-500 fish per day. Yesterday 13 jacks crossed Bonnie (57 year to date). Not sure how good this should make us feel, but it seems we are still early in the overall run.
