Tag Results
Is anyone else out there checking their draws daily on the dfw.state.or.us website in hopes of an early posting? It seems last year they were posted prior to June 20 so I'm anxious. I'll post as soon as I see results on their site.....it's killing me...................

Re: Tag Results
I just tried to find out my results and I don't think they have updated the info for this years liscence numbers. If you visit the site and click on results you will be asked to enter your lisence number and in the first box they still have an 01 instead of 02 for the current year. I tried both ways and disapointingly found they were sorry for not having my number on record. I feel like a kid waiting for christmas this time of year and the suspence is dreadful! Just wanted to pass that along and good luck everybody!

Re: Tag Results
I sent an e-mail to odfw and asked what was going on. The answer was the results will be available on the 20th and not any sooner. No explanation as to why but then again they make the rules now don't they? I'm crossin' my fingers and I might even go to confessional if I thought it would help. Good luck folks!

Re: Tag Results
Left over tags were published yesterday so they had to have completed the drawing. I'm optimistic since 2 of my second choices showed up in leftover tags (Elk and Buck). That means i should have drawn a second choice or better for those hunts.
But, you never know until you see 'em.

Looks like I will be tossing arrows at elk this year again. Those darn rifle hunts are sure hard to get with no preference points.

Oh-fer. Dang. I am so @*^$#& frustrated. I love to hunt so if I am going to this year it will have to be here in W. Oregon with all of the local yay-hoos. Great. Oh well I guess I will fill my freezer with fall chinook instead of venison....

1 for 6. Yay! I have one extra Willamette deer tag (which is a fun tag). No sheep, no antelope, no mulies, no controlled elk, nada. My Dad went 0 for 6. He's really ******. Looks like more general season hunts for me again.

Looks like I fared the same as birdhunter.
I only drew the "additional deer" tag.
Anyone have some private land with blacktails I can hunt on this Fall?

Hey Birdhunter, how do you find out the location of public/public access land in the Willamete Unit.

Looks as if it's going to be an over the counter hunt for me as well. I went 0 for 4 and even used the preference points guide Oh well, at least my wife drew a doe tag for the trask. Looks as if I may be chasing the fall nookies and sturgies a little more than last year.

Re: Tag Results
I went 2 for 2 on the tags I should get. Willamette additional tag, and trout cr. bow for traditional archery. I guess I'll have to get used to the old recurve once again. That season goes until Dec. 8 from what I saw on the website!
Otherwise I'm gaining points for the big boys.

taichaser and XXL, don't be too quick to assume the Dec. 8th ending date on your hunt. My buddy drew the Starkey Forest elk bow tag and it too says through Dec. 8th, but I'm pretty sure it's wrong. Me, I went 2 for 3, getting my buck and doe tag but no elk.

Re: Tag Results
I drew saddle mt. #1 (2nd choice so still accumulating pref. pts for cow elk  ) and a doe tag again!(second year running) My son on the other hand didn't get a doe tag (second year running) so it looks like I will put him in for a first time youth hunt. Jason also drew saddle mt. on his second choice so we will find where the elk are hanging during deer season and if they are on the general season side of the road, we will purchase general season tags! The road in front of my house is the line between general and saddle mt. As usual we will just be hunting around the homestead  gotta love the drive

Re: Tag Results
lor,
ODFW has maps of the units and it might show what land is public and what isn't in the Willamette unit. I don't know for sure. The vast majority of it (99%) is private though.
I've never had a problem getting access on private land. Nurserys, farms, places along rivers, etc. They are all really good options. Plenty of deer down here. They get almost no pressure and there can be some real monster bucks hiding in there too.

Ukiah buck all the rest...Unsuccessful, Unsuccessful, Unsuccessful, ect., ect., looks like its time to once again dive through the brush on the Cascade elk hunt. Hopefully it won't be bluebird weather like it has been in the past. It just doesn't feel like elk hunting in seventy degree weather. Maybe its time to give bow hunting a try.

Re: Tag Results
After 2 PPs for Buck, I finally drew a Murderers Creek tag. Also drew a Trask antlerless (a good handgun hunt). Figured I might get those, so I point saved the Antelope and Elk this year. Never enough vacation when you start adding up the time you need (fishing, hunting and family). I need to retire......

I know what you mean blackdog, I'm fairly sure I saw it say through the regular bow season on the regs, but it was a pleasent suprise to see. I'm going to check today. Also, what is that horrible picture of by your name?? Oh now I recognize it, you're a beaver believer. How sad. I bleed green and yellow when it comes to football. What was that score last year????? Just kiddn.

3 for 5. My best year yet. Got the Mckenzie antlerless and the Ococho buck, but the problem is the antelope I drew was the bow hunt. I meant to put in for the rifle. I guess I will pay for my sin by buying a bow and giving it a shot.... Any bow hunters got any advice?

Re: Tag Results
me fishin', if you really don't like chasin' elk in 70 degree weather, you should definitely take up bow hunting. Then you get to chase 'em when it's 80 and 90. And this year the wonderful ODFW moved us up another week, further into the summer so we can almost guarantee the wonderful hot conditions

Re: Tag Results
NW Redside - I start the bidding on your tag at $200. I had that tag last year for the first time, I learned enough to be assured a good chance at a trophy the second go around. I just want one more chance. Please Please Please......
Bounty Hunter - I am going to update my bow this year since I didnt get my Ochocco rifle elk tag like I wanted, I got a good used bow that I would part with cheap.

went 2 for 4. Antelope silvies, and doe scapossee. Elk and deer will get some sticks throw at them this year. I'm thinking of stalking fishhunter and following him to his super top secret elk hole although I'm sure he would shoot me and leave me lay out in the woods somewhere.
Dan! Good Luck to all the successful draws

Spring Bear...........1st choice
Buck Deer.............1st choice
Antlerless Deer.....1st choice
3 for 3
5 for 5 if you throw in the point savers. Now, I just have to get enough time off work and find 'em to fill 'em. Couldn't get out there enough for the Spring Bear this year :depressed: . Got close. REALLY close. Found where a bear had torn up a tree stump to get ants. Bear spit actually dripped from it when I examined it.... there's always fall bear season

0 for 2 :depressed: looks like High Cascade for me too.
I also plan to not hunt this year if the cascade hunt is too hot. Not gonna waste my vacation time for that...I'll just go fishin' instead
