Default Spring Bear pics

Well here they are finally. This is a little black bear I got this spring on Sheep Mountain, outside of Pine Creek. She probably went 170 or so. No the biggest bear, but a great hunt, nice rug and now some delicious sausage.

So we finally get to see the pics. Nice bear. Where are you going to have the rug made? Do you sausage the whole bear?

Most of the meat was made into summer sausage. The backstrap was saved and we smoked the hams. Other than that, it's all in sausagified form.

We've had Artistic Taxidermy do our bear rugs in the past and have been very happy with them. I don't know if this one will be a rug. I hate to waste the hide, but it's a bit patchier in the back than I had first thought. We've already got a few bears and this is by no means a unique color or large bear. Don't really want to spend that much money on something that isn't really worth it to me. Still hate to throw away a bear rug. Right now the hide is still waiting in the freezer.

Birdhunter,

It is always nice to see the pics. Looks like a nice territory to hunt. Have you ever thought of turning your bear meat into some bacon. I had some made many years age and it was great! Nice and greeeeesy. Try it out with your next bear, I bet you will like it.
