Default Deschutes Etiquette

Now that we are entering trout season I thought it would be appropriate to post this again.
Remember this can apply to any river

Fishing the Deschutes River is a remarkable experience that will leave you with wonderful memories. There are certain times when the river has many different users trying to enjoy this resource. To make yours and others' river experiences more enjoyable, it is important for all to understand the Deschutes River Code of Common Ethics.
Understanding and abiding by these few simple guidelines ensures that you will be conducting yourself in a positive, courteous manner with other anglers on the water and that you will promote the preservation of aquatic habitat.

- Always communicate with other river users in a positive and courteous manner.
- Minimize the impact of your watercraft on other users.
- Respect other anglers' water. Ask before entering a run that they are fishing or which they may be resting. Boaters
- Look ahead for anglers and give them a wide berth; pass by peacefully.
- In an area where it is required that your dog be kept on a leash please do so.
- Never assume you can join a group or individual without asking first.
- Do not fish over or harass spawning fish.

I wish every user would have to sign some sort of etiquette contract when they buy there boater passes. Kind of like the one a parent has to sign when their child participates in sports. I wish there was some way that this was manditory reading before getting a boaters permit or a fishing license for that matter. Thank you for your post Stew. I know that everyone here will abide.
