Bend Poachers

I have copied a police report below where a reward is being offered for help in catching some poachers.

Why would somebody shoot a deer and leave it lay, anybody got any theories? Sick sport, got scared and left when somebody came by, neighbor tired of his flowers getting trampled, dare, ..????

REWARD OFFERED FOR INFORMATION
REGARDING WINTERING DEER KILL

The Oregon State Police and The Oregon Hunter Association are offering a $500.00 reward to information leading to the arrest of the individual(s) responsible for killing wintering deer off China Hat Road in Bend, Oregon.
During the month of December 2001 nine kill sites were investigated. The kill sites have all been within a mile of the powerline crossing on China Hat Road. Four of the kill sites were does and five of the kill sites were mature bucks. Two of the bucks and one doe were killed and left to waste.
Individuals with information can remain anonymous.

It is interesting that it all occurred in the month of December. These animals are wintering and probably not easily visible the remainder of the year. My guess it is a crime of opportunity for lack of a better word. Someone likes it, my guess more than one. The word spread maybe that there was easy meat to be had. Then with three of them left to waste it sounds like the dumb kids got involved. I want to believe something like this is brought on by a need for food. As usual
I wish to deny there are really not that many sick

crap makes me ill. A visit to the woodshed in ones youth is not always a bad thing.

That really hits close to home as that is right near where we camp and hunt when we draw Paulina unit tags.

I hope they catch the responsible party/parties.
