Re: Eastern Oregon Application
From the 2002 Oregon Big Game Regs -
Land Owner Preference (LOP)
Landowners must register and file tag distribution forms prior to the deadlines below. Only one representative landowner, or stockholder of a corporation, or representative partner of a partnership may register.
Applicants for LOP tags must indicate a landowner preference hunt choice on their applications. After May 15, 2002, applications for LOP tags will not be available for purchase through license agents. Applicants must submit their applications to the headquarters office of ODFW.
Deadlines for submitting LOP registration and tag distribution forms:
• If also applying for unit-wide controlled
hunt tags, or if applying for a limited
landowner elk tag (see Note), applications
must be received by May 15, 2002.
• If applying for controlled 100 series
buck deer and/or 200 series bull and
either-sex elk, applications must be
received by September 15, 2002.
• If applying for eligible controlled 400
series pronghorn antelope, 200 series
antlerless elk, 600 series antlerless deer
hunts, and 800 series additional deer
hunts, applications must be received by
the day before the hunt begins.
Note: In certain controlled elk hunts with a bag limit of spike or better in units where the usual bag limit for bull elk is spike only, LOP tags for those hunts will be limited to five tags or 10% of the total tags for those hunts, whichever is greater.
Depending on what your friend plans to hunt, it could be May 15, Sept 15, or the day before the Hunt. I assume he understands that the LOP tag is only good on the registered property.
