Hit & Run
While coming home from work tonight, I was rear ended while waiting on the 6th st offramp off of I-405. Sends me into the intersection. I pull over to the right and wait for the other vehicle to follow. As I look for them, I see this RAV-4 speed past me with front end damage and fluid pouring out the front end. I proceed to take chase, and this person is literally trying to elude me. I somewhat block her in at a stoplight and hang out the window yelling at her to pull over, she gets around me and takes off. I follow and call 911. Bottom line, she is arrested for DUII and Hit and Run. My worry is that all the police have provided me is the name and address of the driver and vehicle identification. I have no insurance info from the other driver.
Does anyone have any experience with a situation like this. I'm freaking out tonight as I don't feel I have sufficient info and need to get the process going tomorrow a.m...
Any useful input or experience would be appreciated.

Re: Hit & Run
Sorry to hear about your car - that sucks - I hope you are OK - sometimes the soft tissue injuries take a couple days to show up. Good deal chasing her down.

Re: Hit & Run
wow!
Hopefully they throw the book at her for this one. Probably not, DUII laws are not hard enough on offenders. Espescially if its thier first one. Good job at chasing her down though. If you cant be chasing the springers, may as well be chasing down something that resembles a sealion.

Re: Hit & Run
The sad part is that your insurance company probably won't even bother trying to go after her. My mom recently got hit while sitting at a stop light. The people took off and my 64 year old mother gave chase and got their license number and home address.
The police did nothing, the insurance company did nothing. Really sad.

Re: Hit & Run
Yes, if you call your agent He can contact the DMV for you and get the insurance information if the other driver is insured.

Working in the collision repair business I see this stuff quite a bit. If your mom got all that info it is hard to believe that nothing was done by anyone. Most of the time there is more to the story than what your hearing. Sometimes you have to give them a couple of days to get things sorted out and if you are not getting the attention you feel you deserve start calling, the squeeky wheel gets the grease.

Re: Hit & Run
You should be able to get the insurance information from the official police report. Give the report number to your insurance agent, and they should take it from there.

Re: Hit & Run
What really sucks is that my hitch is toast so I can't tow my sled until everything is repaired and the hitch is replaced. The hitch took the majority of the blow.
