Re: Auato Glass Replacement ?
Well I will not go with Empire again. There is one who will pay half of $120.00 and guarantee there work for the life of the windshield. I think that may be the best bet.

Re: Auato Glass Replacement ?
Quick lesson in auto glass: All auto glass must meet the same federal motor vehicle standart. No matter what brand of glass they install, be it PPG, Carlite, LOF PILKINGTON , SAFELITE or whatever, The glass could be made in factories in the USA, China, Argentina, South Africa, Mexico, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Poland, Germany, ---- its a global market when it comes to auto glass. Brand name means nothing anymore, We have seen distorted PPG glass as well as other so called brand names and have found good glass made by Chinese manufacturer FYG. More important is an installation that conforms to carmaker/federal standarts. Sadly I have seen many substandart installations that were done by well known auto glass installers.Be cautious when some one offers you a huge discount or deductible rebate. We live in the good old USA were you get what you pay for.

Re: Auato Glass Replacement ?
Yes, Isaac. It was a terrific experience. They did very good work, were prompt, used original factory glass (not aftermarket). Not a penny out of my pocket. The tech who came out to do the installation explained what I could expect, what not to do and very carefully explained that in a small percentage of installations there are leaks (my particular make of car), told me how to tell if I had that problem and to call us I experience anything like that.
They didn't have to disclose that, but with that information up front, if something had happened, I would have been very comfortable having been forwarned.
I would certainly use them again, even if the insurance didn't cover it.
Since then, I have recommended them to several others.
Thanks for the recommendation Isaac!

Re: Auato Glass Replacement ?
The OEM windshield on my van lastest 8 years and many small dings. The windshield that replaced it is not even one year old and has two large cracks from two small dings. My insurance agent told me where to have the replacement installed. I have a $100 deductible for glass replacement and now it is going to cost me another $100. I won't be listening to my insurance agent again!

Re: Auato Glass Replacement ?
David,
I would contact your insurance company to find out who they recommend. Many of the insurance companies have auto glass companies they work with at agreed prices. Who do you think is really paying for the 24 free dinners at Shari's? Your insurance carrier is getting stuck for the higher price of the glass install.
