Default Hey WP - Tell us more

Hey Skipper, it ain't gonna seem right without the FV Tantrum out there showin' us how to catch tuna, so we're not sure you have our permission to sell anything or move anywhere.

Fill us in on your plans. Where are you goin'? When? For how long?

Yer pals want to know!

Hey Jim,
Well, I am taking advantage of an opportunity to leave my job and retire early this summer. Part of that decision is to enable Joey to pursue her Masters degree. We will be leaving the northwest in late summer, probably August. She has decided to go to Atlanta to attend school. We are taking a year to travel first before settling in. To enable this, we will be selling the house, Yukon, boat, and 90+% of our possessions (Motorhomes don't hold enough!) I want to have this last Tuna! season so am not planning to sell until just before we leave. Someone will get a pretty good deal on a boat (plus gear, SUV, tools, and a ton of other stuff!) When school is over, our plan is to move back to the NW and then I will buy another boat and start back fishing the greatest fishery in the world. I plan to stay connected to the IFish team and to certainly taste the opportunities for fishing everywhere we go, but towing a boat will be impossible for us :depressed: Hope that covers your questions, thanks for asking!
Dave

WP, I agree there isn't much room in a motorhome (or 5th wheel). Good luck in your adventures.

Dave- You ever consider just "sharing" ownership in the boat while you are gone...ie leaving it with someone trust who will keep up the insurance et al and be nice to it while you travel and then let you claim it back when you returned?? I can think of a few boat hungry ifishers who would jump at that chance.

Actually Joey suggested I leave it with Steve, my regular fishing partner! I may still do that but economically it doesn't make sense to leave it for 3-4 years without being able to use it.

Well I'll be damned.....you sure are the adventurous type.

Seems like I shared more trips and radio time with you than about anybody on the board. I hope to get a few more trips in running with you.
If you ever get hungry out there on the road.....let me know and I will mail you a fish.

Your gonna be missed.

Congrats to you and Joey, Dave, I know it's been a long time coming. Let me be the first to say, you've always got a seat on my boat whenever your back in the PNW.

Hey buddy I will miss going out with you and Steve and I will miss you at work. I hope everything works out great for you two. You are definitely going to have to regale us with tales of fishing in the gulf and back east. Hopefully they let you stay until October!
Who's going to tie all the rigs up now, without your partner Steve? I guess you could get the catcher to do it! I don't think you will find another partner who enjoys rigging as much though.
I hope you're not to old to fish the NorthWest Salt when you get back! I am sure you will get spoiled by those other flat oceans. Oh that's right I forgot you are younger than me! Best of luck buddy!

Feel free to return and take a ride whenever the need arises. You are both welcome on my boat anytime. How did your harpoon turn out? I never heard. Keep me in the loop when you bail as I plan to tow down to Venice La. next spring and would love to look for some Yellow fin with you. Meanwhile see ya on the salt.
