Watch Computers?
Do any of you own or use a watch computer? I was given one made by Nike several years ago that is not working so I am going to buy a new one. For those of you who have not seen one, they give you an altimeter, barometric pressure and a compass as well as temperature. Oh, they even tell you the time! I never thought that I would use it much, but I found that it was a great tool when out in the woods. I liked being able to get my altitude with a quick glance. Being able to reference altitude with a topo map really helped in keeping orientated. The barometric pressure was the thing that I used the most. By monitoring the pressure I was able to some what predict the weather. Really came in handy last year at elk camp. I could tell the there was a storm coming at least 8 hours before it hit.
Any way I have been looking at the Polar brand. I know that there are several different makers out there. Casio puts one out that includes programable tide tables. That could come in handy!
Thanks,
Andrew
