Default Sage Rats

Used to go to Lakeview to shoot "sage rats" in the alfalfa fields. The farmers liked to have us get rid of the varmits and we had alot of fun shooting them with our 22's or 223's. Unfortunately, my buddy died a couple years ago and we are looking for a new place to go shoot. Hopefully closer to home. Does anyone have any info on areas closer to Portland? Maybe the Dalles or Madras areas. Any help would be appreciated.

I would try south of Bend or maybe Fort Rock area. There are alot of fellas down there that have a ton of groung and are usually willing to let somebody take out a few of them. A friend of mine lives in LaPine and he is always shootin those dudes! We just got back from Klamath Falls shootin those little suckers! Our motto was "I'll quit killin when it quits feelin good"

I use to go to the Fort Rock area, I didnt know anybody around that area but just to the S.W. of the actual Fort Rock there are some huge ranches and each time I went I just asked the owners and they had no problem with us shooting all the sage rats. I went 4 times and went to four different ranches each time no problem. Just get close to Fort Rock and roll down the window listen for the sounds of death and head on over to that ranch.

Thanks for the response, but I am still hoping to find a place to go spray some lead closer to home (Vancouver WA area) soooo does anyone have any experience in the Goldendale, WA area or maybe The Dalles Oregon in finding a place to blast the little critters? Any help appreciated, have a 14 year old son with the itch to go shooting without Dad having to listen to 6 hours of "are we there yet?" Any help appreciated!!
