The Good Guys at Steven's Marine
There's been a bit of bad press directed toward Steven's Marine lately, and I just want to say that I just completed a new boat purchase (Alumaweld) with Steven's and I could not be more satisfied with their service and desire to achieve complete customer satisfaction. To make a long story short, Brad (Mgr) and Chris & Tyrone (Sales) and Troy (Service) bent over backward to make sure the boat I bought was what I wanted. I wanted to put a jet drive on in place of the outboard. Everyone there advised me that the 60 hp four stroke on the boat would probably prove to be a little weak for a jet drive. But, in my normal hard-headed manner, I insisted. The jet drive delivery was delayed (beyond Steven's control) so they delivered the boat with the prop drive for me to use while we waited for the jet to arrive. The boat performed like a dream with the prop. Soon the jet arrived and they installed it. And, much to my dismay, they were right. It wasn't enough motor to make it perform like it should. I decided to go back to the prop drive. Brad and his employees changed it back for me, with cheerful attitudes and my satisfaction in mind. All in all they mounted that motor 3 times...at no charge to me. I now have a great performing boat and would tell anyone that Steven's Marine is the place to buy. Bar none!!!!
My utmost thanks to Brad, Chris, Tyrone and Troy....

Re: The Good Guys at Steven's Marine
I too have been very pleased with Stevens lately. Troy did a great job for me on the rebuild of the pump on my old boat and took care of a few problems that I had with it after I got it back.

Re: The Good Guys at Steven's Marine
I work with odiewon and am familiar with the boat and the service that Steven's Marine provided. It was as he said it was. No, he is in no way associated with Steven's Marine.
I was very pleased to see the outstanding way that Steven's dealt with a new boat owner.
Here is a recent picture of the culprit.
That would be odiewon on the left, my brother Randy in the middle and crabbait to the right. The picture is from Sunday, 4/17/05, and yes, we cheated. The boat you see in the backgound belongs to legendary ifisher TALONS who graciously introduced us to the shiny slimy triplets.

Re: The Good Guys at Steven's Marine
ODiewan,
Don't sweat it. Some people on here can be a lttle on the "grumpy" side. One piece of advice I can give you (as an ifish old timer) take most of what you read here with a grain of salt. That has been my attitude since I joined almost 5 years ago and I am still here while many of the original people got offended by someone and left.
Welcome to ifish.

Re: The Good Guys at Steven's Marine
Odiewon.... I had a similar experience with Steven's. I couldn't be happier with my boat (bought new from the Tigard store from Eric in August of '02). I pestered them like only a New Boat first-timer can, and they delivered!!
After over 2 and a half years, I'm a very satisfied Steven's customer, and no, I don't have any interest in Steven's either. Just a boat owner who's happy I made the decision I did...
And Welcome to Ifish.... You'll grow to love us!!

I also had a great experience at Stevens Marine, I received everything I was told I would get and a little extra(thanks David) It's hard to find good service these days and I will no doubt go back to Stevens again.

As much as I hate to admit it, I was a little skeptical too. I have no doubt that there are some boat salesman out there that sign up under false accounts just to promote their own product, or they will "dogpile" on someone else's negative experience. The intention is to make the competition look worse and their product look better by comparison. These are usually new ifishers who don't have too many posts to their credit, and typically they keep their posts short. I'm really glad to find out that this isn't the case here.
Granted..most of them are stand up guys...but I'm pretty sure this happens. It's an unfortunate reality.
Having said that, Stevens is a very reputable company. I'm not a boat owner myself, but I have seen a couple of guys go through the boat buying experience with Stevens. I've seen first hand the quality of their customer service and I'm especially pleased when I see them support local fisherman by sponsoring ifish.
Please don't take it personally, we've just had the "wool pulled over our eyes" one too many times.

Re: The Good Guys at Steven's Marine
As other have mentioned, I also have had a great experience with all of my dealings with Stevens Marine.
As of last count, I have purchased 12 boats from them over a period of 26 years. (Yes, I even bought my first Aluminium Driftboat from Page when he operated out of a very small shop in Lake Oswego (Lake Grove actually)
As my business grew, I needed at least two more driftboats for the Deschutes and Page bent over backwards to provide me with the boats in a real hurry! He even painted them alike in record time.
Now, I only own three boats, and you can be sure they are, and always will be, Alumaweld. (And NO, I do not work for or own any part of the franchise...darn it.)

As long as you spend lots of money, they treat you right.
Shop on a budget and you don't mean diddly squat to them.
Good luck.

Re: The Good Guys at Steven's Marine
Wow, my first boat was a 1995 Sylvan that I bought used from Eric at the Tigard store for around $8K...I was mid twenties with bad credit and just alittle cash. Knowing all this first, he was willing to take me on a 2 hour river trial and not only show me the boat, but show me how to work all the controls and even gave me tips on how to launch and recover. This was before I even told him that I would buy it.
I was very impressed that he (and Steven's) were willing to do all that for a cheap consignment boat that they probably made $700 on. When I went in for my first service in the middle of summer, they had me out of there in 2 days...that is without making an appointment (I didn't know any better)
Now, I have bought 2 boats since then from a different manufacturer, but it isn't due to any failing from Eric, the service department or Steven's Marine.
As a salesrep myself, I can't help but be impressed with their level of service.

Re: The Good Guys at Steven's Marine
I don't work for Steven' Marine either, but have had an excellent experience with them. I had a boat built in Gold Beach by another manufacturer two years ago, and needed an engine. My choice was a Merc 115 Optimax. That was the first year that particular engine came out, and I checked dealers all over OR & WA for that engine when it first came out and no one could produce, except for Stevens. The problem was I needed it in a hurry for a trip to Canada and they came through.
Then last summer when I took it in for the annual service, they found that I was losing compression. Well, I was worried how much it was going to cost me. Scott reassured me that all the work will be covered under the warranty. Boy what a relief! Kudos to Stevens Marine and especially the service dept.

Re: The Good Guys at Steven's Marine
I bought my first 3 sleds from Stevens and many kickers. In fact just traded my 3 year old 9.9 Big Foot for the new 2005 9.9 Big Foot which is much lighter than the old one. They treat you right and earn your buzz but they are not cheap either. But service is the name of the game and keep you fishing.
