Default sandshrimp around Coos Bay?

Anyone know any good spots to go get some sandshrimp for bait in the coos bay / empire / charleston area? It wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if there was a spot nearby that I could get some eastern soft shells durring the same ebb tide. The absolute coolest thing would be if I could get to such a spot in my boat quickly and easily from the Empire boat ramp. That way I could go set out some crab traps, go clamming and get some sturgeon bait all at the same time! Any southern Salty dogs able to help me out with this one?

I have not been to this spot, since I get all my shrimp in Winchester Bay, but I had an old-timer tell me that there are more shrimp than you can shake a stick at near the boat ramp on the north spit of the Coos, which I believe is right across from the Empire ramp.

This is 2nd hand info I'm passing along, so take it for what it's worth.

The spot I usually go to is on the right of the causeway as you turn off Hwy 101 to the North Spit. Went there a couple of weeks ago and had to work a little to get 3 doz or so. If you continue out on the Trans Pacific Parkway you'll get to the BLM boat ramp. Sounds like that might be a good spot for shrimp. The docks are not in yet for the season at the BLM ramp.

Don't know about Eastern’s (little necks?). I dig Gaper's (Empire's, Blue's) out on the NS. Go to the end of the pavement, then go about another ½ mile on the sand road. Any place once you come out of the trees is good. Have 4 wheel drive and an orange flag on the rig if you go on the sand road.

PS: I've heard crabbing in the bay has been slow lately (lots of fresh water). Let us know how you do.

200 to 300 yards down river from the Empire ramp was a good place last time I tried a year ago at a good low tide. I didn't find much in the way of clams but lots of sand shrimp, I even got a few ghost shrimp which kinda freaked me out because I had never seen one of those before.
