Default Truths my mother told me:

Just_learnings post got me thinkin...what somethings my mom did not lie about.

Heres one I really remember:

When your father gets home he is going to paddle your bottom !
She was not lying, she was right !

Dad always said, "stop yer bawlin' or I'll give you something to bawl about!"

Boy, that always made me mad... talk about adding insult to injury!

I've tried hard not to do the same to my kids. Oh, I've said it once or twice when I really lost my temper, but I never actually did it!

" The reason it has hair on it is so you can't see the hook "... I'll let you figure out what he was talking about. BTW- he was right

My grandpa was born and raised near the Canadian Rockies. He used to tell stories of the harsh winters. He said it was common for houses to be lifted off their foundations by the icicles that grew larger with the cold weather. He said he had some pictures of houses sitting a few feet off the ground ... Unfortunately, he couldn't find them before he passed away. I bet that was a neat sight.

What? You don't believe the story?

wow, theres a long list...

The girls who arent a challenge for you wont be one for someone else...

Relationships that start in the classroom or library last longer and are better than one that starts in a bar or party.

Alcohol impairs your ability to make rational decisions....After 5 years of college...im finding this to be true.

First impressions DO Matter.

This country gives us chances to do things we cant do anywhere else in the world.

God loves you, thats why you havent died yet.--I hear that one atleast 5 times a week.

From my dad:
Education is the most important thing you can have, nobody can take it from you.

Knowledge is power.

if you work hard, people will always have a job for you. I cant tell you how true I have found this to be!

Where there is a will, there is a way!(dad grew up in a refugee camp and found ways to succeed. He is my inspiration!)

And one that really sticks out now that my parents are getting older. "its important that you carry yourself in a respectful manner because it reflects on us, and how we raised you!."

I am extremely lucky to have the parents I have, any other ones probably would have killed me by now!

Wish I had $1 for every time I heard that
Another one of my dad's favorite threats
"They are going to have to take me and you to the hospital in order to get my foot out of your a**"
The cool thing about my dad was he was mostly just threats When he felt it necessary to take action he rarely said anything
