Pistol Hunts

I heard mentioned about a pistol only hunt in Oregon but I don't recall ever seeing such hunt. Has Oregon ever done this, or doing it? I don't see it in the regs..

Don't know about Oregon, but Washington has no special season. You can use your pistol during modern rifle hunts, provided they meet the power level for the game.

Dogfish is right, you can use your pistol[s] during the General Firearm Seasons, if it is big enough to meet the requirments.

You can use a variety of weapons for the "Firearm Restriction" Game Management Units in Washington, like GMU 564 Battleground, where I live. Here it is a Modern Firearm Season for "Any Deer or Any Elk" but weapons are restricted to shotguns with slugs or buckshot (no buckshot for elk), muzzleloaders, archery equipment, and open sighted revolvers (not scoped pocket rifles) . Here's a hide of a piebald doe I shot at my place at 60 yds. with handloaded 300 gr. Nosler Partition hollowpoints from my Ruger Bisley Vaquero .44 magnum in the last ten minutes of the season a couple Halloweens ago. CW
