Default "Good" customer service issues??(ABU& North River)

Hi all

I thought I would relate a couple of "good" customer service experiencees...Not GREAT but good

I was one of the hoards that bought a new ABU reel at Joes at got a "free" tackle bag. I got the paperwork filled out and found it was 9.95 SH (free??) so I filled out the stuff sent it in and 5 weeks later get a letter that states I filled out my check wrong....9.95 in the amount and 9.00 on the amount line.... :depressed:

I sent the check back and then get another letter that they are out and they were sorry.....As supplies last.....

I emailed ABU (isn't the net cool) and today I got a email that said they were very sorry and would make sure I got a bag. They said they were on Backorder but would be in soon.

Hey at least they answered my email.......

So maybe they have made me feel a bit better (at least they responded)

On a second note I emailed North River for some new stickers for my boat (mine are peeling off after 8 years) I got a call from Almar in Tacoma the next day and they said they would send me the stickers ASAP (21.00 with shipping for 2 stickers) I like to keep my boat as nice as I can so 21.00 is not a big deal (free would have made me feel better) but again at least they responded to me.

Anyway I have found that if you voice your disatisfaction about poor CS it can help.

If you never tell anyone and you wine to everyone except the ones that can help you do not get anywhere.(most places will at least act like the care)

It would be nice to see some POSITIVE CS experiences not just negitive ones....anyone??

Thanks
EULA

Most everywhere I go in the retail world I have a pleasant helpful experience. I seldom have found poor customer service anywhere unless I have been in a bad or arrogant mood and brought the unpleasantness on myself.

I think your experience is what you make of it. I know that retail workers and most everyone working in the service industry are treated with little respect because most consumers have a better than thou attitude. I've been guilty of it. I try to make a conscious effort to think before I speak these day's.

I purchased a new canopy for my truck last weekend. I called friday evening after the company had closed but they answered the phone. I told them that I was going to the coast the next morning(my problem) and asked if they could have it ready to go? I arrived the next morning before they opened and they had the canopy ready and waiting for me to back up underneath it. They got me in and out in 20 minutes. It was appreciated. That is my latest great CS experience.

Eulachon,

I also got an ABU reel only at Fisherman Marine. I sent in for the same tackle bag deal. They had a sample there and it was definitely worth the shipping charge of $9.95. I would estimate the value around $25 to $30. It was nice.

I just sent in the coupon so I have not received a bag yet.

Yeah more anoyed at the BIG FREE and the real little 9.95

10.00 is a good deal no doubt but 9.95 is probably double what they pay for it.

Nevr saw a sample.

and like I said the cs was pretty good from ABU when I emailed them

Got the same deal here in Salem at GI Joe's when I picked up a Abu 6500 for my wife last month. Mailed in my check for $9.95 and received the tackle bag in about 3 weeks. Definitely worth the wait!! Holds a ton of gear and has become my favorite tackle box!! Was able to consolidate about 3 different smaller boxes that I had into the new bag. For me, it has proven to be a good experience.

I bought a new North River Seahawk (which is one sweet boat by the way) from the Corvallis dealer a couple months ago and the boat had a little glitch with the electrical system. Living in The Dalles, I called to see when I could get the boat back to Corvallis to get it fixed. They ended up sending someone that evening to come fix the problem! I was very impressed with their customer service to say the least.

I bought my 1996 North River in 2000. Shortly there after I broke the latch on the glove box. I called them on the phone and asked where I might purchase one like the original and they asked me for my address. 2 days later I got the latch in the mail. I was amazed! I hadn't purchased the boat from them yet they sent me the latch no charge. Each time I have called them they have been very helpful and courteous. Plus I love their boat! I am really not looking forward to selling it but I really want to change to a Salty boat instead of the sled.

Default Re: "Good" customer service ?? Steven's Marine!

After almost 5 years and 300 engine hours, working with the maintenance staff at Steven's Marine failed to find the source or a solution for the leak in the hull of my 20' 10º Alumaweld Intruder. They called me up and asked me if I could come in to meet with them about the problem. I did meet with them. They told me that my boat had a lifetime hull warrantee and they were going to make good on it; giving me the option of either having a new 10º hull built and ready in a month or so, or I could choose a new 14º boat with a new motor off the lot, as long as I paid for any equipment upgrades. I took the 14º option and selected my new boat that day ... with a new motor! I paid to upgrade to steel stays for the top and for the "MasterFisherman" package - the transom kicker mount with on-board hand wash.

Throughout the process, I kept a good relationship with Stevens. They were willing to work with me as I kept returning with the leak problem they couldn't reproduce. They finally sent me out fishing with one of their mechanics and it wasn't long before they saw that there was indeed a leak. Cracks in chine welds are hard to chase down and can be really difficult to repair, depending on where they are. I'll stand behind their great customer service and recommend them to anyone who cares about serice after the sale.
