Default Big game trips and antlers

I have heard stroies of folks that pay lots of dough to go on a fly in trip to some remote area and when they finally score on that trophy animal that the outfitter makes them split the rack...

This leads to 2 problems
1. Mounting if the animal and reatining the original symetry
2. If the rack is split is no longer eligible for big game records.

Have any of you great hunters had this happen? and what would you do to prevent it from happening again.

I've never heard of this before. But if someone did try and split my trophy rack, there'd be more than just an animal to pack out!
I have accidentally split two pretty decent racks that both ended up on the wall. One was spit with a bullet and one was split while cutting the horns out before packing.
Taxidermy is an art, and I would say that any good taxidermist can fix the split.
