Default Newbie Intro

WOW! What a wealth of knowledge and skill on this board!

I am Alan, a fifty-somthin' Navy Senior Chief (retired) from Arlington, WA. Born and raised in NW Ohio, so spent my boyhood on Lake Erie. The year there was cat fishin' season/ walleye season/ perch season/ squirrel season/ rabbit and pheasant season/ freeze yur buns season/ and then back to cat fishin.

Since homesteading in the PNW I have spent quite a bit of time on the trout lakes at Jim Creek (the local Navy rec complex) and chasing Steelies on the Skykomish. CnR'd some nice Dollies and Silvers on the Sky too. Have made it out on the Sound for Humpies, Blackmouth, and crabbin'. I guess my best catch so far was a 59" Sturgeon I pulled out of Ebby Slough in the Snohomish system.

We have an old,old 20' SeaRay cuddy that we use out on the sound, but she is laid up right now until I get the time and the pennies to replace risers and manifolds. Previous owner stripped out the carpet and put in captains seats so she is a pretty good fishin and crabbin boat.

I am probably going to have to do most of my fishing vicariously through this board for most of the summer. Our house had both that @#$!* LP siding and (*^&* WoodRuff roofing. :depressed: I am about 3/4 of the way through replacing the siding with 6" cedar and still have to do the roof. Maybe done by humpie season?? I hope.

Well, this was supposed to be a post, not a book... so I will shut up. Have some questions I will be posting.

Nice to meet you all
Alan

Nothing like those Lake Erie walleyes, pick up a limit of
6-8lbers. Makes the boys in Minnesota look like bufoons.

Welcome Alan,
Jump over to the Salty Dogs discussion and you'll find yourself leaving that roof project for next winter!

Thanks for the welcome everyone!
I will be doing a lot of lurking and learning. I'm strictly a smolt when it comes to learning about fishing any of the local waters.
Hook, if you ever get up to the Tulalip casino stop by the cashiers cage and say "Hi". I'll be the only chubby old bald guy in the cage.
