Got a new rifle yesterday

I bit the bullet yesterday and plunked down the cash for a new rifle. I bought a Winchester Mod. 70 .300 WSM in a Featherwieght. Ive been looing for one of those in a featherwieght for about 4 months. No one ever had one in stock. I was on a waiting list to get one and the owner of the store called me as soon as he recieved it. I cant wait to get it scoped and get out and put some rounds through it.

I eyeballed the featherweights years ago when they were brought out in the long case 7mm and .300 Mags.

Never got one..

Friend of mine used to use a 300 Weatherby for deer until he got tired of me teasing with; "Bill, you shoot deer like you shoot pool; if you can hit 'em good, hit'em hard".

willierower you should have fun with that new wsm i have had one in my hands nice feeling rifle.I too had one on my list but decided after hearing the 270 version wasnt too far off in the future to wait.I did get to see some paper punchin from the 300 wsm nice group 5/8 right out of the box,one thing to check for if you havent already is how the wood to metal fit is .The rifle i looked over and took apart needed some tlc to enhance its accuracy as do most production rifles nowadays they use a hot glue for bedding areas and this stuff tends to squish out and end up where it doesnt need to be.anyway a good choice in what should be a great cartridge.RJ
