Whats the chances of getting an Ifish shoot going
I'd be willing to bet that most of us didn't get enough shots at ducks this year so I was wondering if there was a chance we could get a skeet shoot going? Maybe someone could round up a prize of some kind? I'll try to do some checking for a place, But proably a portland club would be more convienient for everyone involved.
If I shoot at a woody and hit a tree does that still count as shooting a woody.

WRO I would be game as long as it doesn't confict with the end of duck season, the 3rd NW goose season, winter steelhead, or springers. JK
Mitchel's Sporting Clays down in Gervis might not be a bad pick for location. Another option would be to see if the trap range at Sauvie is open between the end of the season and mid April when the whole island opens back up.

I was thinking a weekend in mid march sometime. After the seasons end and before springers. I will try and maybe round up a guided salmon/sturgeon trip for a prize.

Sporting clays!!!!! Hmmmm... are us "ringers" from WA invited?
I've been shooting since Aug 2000 so I think I'm warmed up. Now if my club's 5 stand (version of sporting clays) would stop humiliating me. I've been shooting my 20 gauge at that for about 2 months now.

Re: Whats the chances of getting an Ifish shoot going
I'll try and call mitchells tororrow and see if they could swing us a deal for like a round of sporting clays, trap, and skeet. I haven't seen there set up yet, but I heard there sporting clays course is pretty good. I'd like to get an idea how many are interested though. Maybe we could get a group rate. (maybe if I kick them in something extra they'll give me self exploding clays, the ones that the sound of a shtogun blast breaks)

Re: Whats the chances of getting an Ifish shoot going
WRO I would venture to say the Mitchell's has hosted other shooting events and may be able to provide additional services like scoring/bracketing if that is what we want to do. I am not suggesting we make it "competitive" at least not any more so than the duck blind can get. They could probably offer some ideas as far as format goes as well. They were at the Sportsman's Expo last year, so if you can wait a few weeks, they will probably be there. Then again, who knows how quickly there schedule books up.
Depending on how many people show, it may be worth it to go for a few small prizes rather than a big one. This is unless you have an inside line on the guided trip. Let me know if there is something I can help with.

Re: Whats the chances of getting an Ifish shoot going
I do have the inside scoop on a guide. I 'm pretty sure he'll swing for it. I think this would be a blast, and lord knows I need the practice. I hope that everyone has a great season closer.

Re: Whats the chances of getting an Ifish shoot going
Sounds like a blast! If it were later on a saturday or anytime on a sunday I would be game. I use to shoot trap a lot but haven't in years. Might be a good chance to see if I still have the touch.

How about the Tri-County Gun Club?
http://www.tcgc.org/
It is out in Sherwood. This is a great facility for just about any kind of shooting you want to get into. As far as shotgun, it is set up for: skeet, sporting clay, trap, and tactical.
