Default How to strengthen a skull for an art project

My son is making an art project of his 3x4 muley skull & antlers. As the animal is relatively young, the skull plates are thin and not real strong. Is there something you can paint this with that will help bind the bones together and strenghten them a bit? Obviously he wants to keep some type of white finish on it.

Thanks,

Hmmmm....Maybe try painting the inside surfaces with epoxy resin? Never really thought about this one. My critter skulls are for looking, not touching. Good luck. Let us know if you come up with a good idea. May be useful at some point.

Maybe I should go into more detail...if you are trying to strengthen a skull with horns..(i.e. deer, elk, moose), the best way is to fill the cavity on the underside with bondo. As the bondo begins to dry, but before it fully hardens, you can scrape away the excess and there you go!! I've done it a hundred times. It works great.

I guess I had planned on doing the bondo (or mentioning it to my son) but I hadn't planned on filling most of the cavity, might work.

Okay, if any other suggestions, I'll take it. I'm mainly concerned around the nose area where hit's a bit weak.

Thanks,
