Coleman Ultimate coolers

Has anyone used the Coleman Ultimate cooler? They say it will keep ice for 7 days,which is about 6 1/2 days longer than my current cooler.

I dont know about the Ultimate.But our Coleman extreme 5 day cooler does as advertised and keeps ice for at least 5 days.I was amazed at how well it works.After 2 or 3 days theres not even any moisture yet from melting.

I have one. Last year using an ordinary cooler we broght fish back form Texas, and had to restock the dry ice evey two days. This year, using the new Colman I never once restocked it, and still had a couple of pounds of dry ice left when we got here after 6 days. Now that is a good cooler!

We used Extreme coolers on our deer hunt this year. First trip to hunt camp for them. Using the "super ice" recipe we got here on IFish, our food stayed FROZEN all week long. Mind you, this is deer season in the SE desert of E Oregon. Was quite warm during the day. We kept the coolers shaded, but, I honestly think we could have left them in the sun the whole time. The coolers with cocktail and/or block ice didn't fare quite as well. Still, nothing to complain about.

This year we'll find out how well they keep our eggs from freezing at 7000 feet! :grin:

What's this super ice recipe that Acuta mentioned in his post?

One thing that I've used are the bags from "Wine in a Box" No leakage and you got fresh water later. They stack nicely in in the freezer and in the cooler.

I have a friend who likes the stuff & I get his extra bags.

I bought a couple of the extreme coolersa couple of weeks ago. Looking forward to trying them out this summer.

Hog, I'm not sure, but I think it was on Salty Dogs. I'd have to as my Dad again. Uses like a HUGE amount of salt mixed with water in a gallon milk jug. Then leave it in the deep freeze for half of forever. Will stay frozen a LONG time, AND be a heckuva lot colder than normal ice. Is colder than water ice even when mostly thawed (most of ours had frost on the jugs even when the contents were completely liquid).
