Default New 3 1/2" Beretta - AL 391

Had a chance to shoot the New Beretta 3 1/2" 12 GA. the other day...Very Nice. Should be hitting the stores soon, with a price tag, so I'm told, approaching a Grand...Black Comp. Only

I especially Like the "Tacky" Rubber forearm and Grip....definately something new. Camo version out next year.

Sorry if this is OLD news!

Scott unless I am mistaken, this is the knock off on the Benellie SBE. As you may know Beretta owns Benelli so the bolt assemblies and actions are very similar. I have an SBE and I love it, I would imagine the Beretta will be in the same class both quality and price.

The Difference between the SBE and the 391 is that the sbe is recoil operated while the 391 is gas operated. If you hve anymore information about this new gun let me know. I have shot the 391 and absolutely love it in 3in.

Willamette, I thought I saw that the Beretta was recoil operated. My bad. Thanks for the correction. My advice is buy a SBE and leave the gas to the pump jockies down at Chevron.

WRO I hear you, there are days I would have better luck shooting with my eyes closed. Actually, come to think of it, maybe that was the problem. LOL.

Dogfish, my wife wouldn't let be by a $1000 gun either, that's why I bought it 2 months before I bought her engagement ring. I also bought my sled 4 months before that.

I made a huge jump in guns. For 16 years I have been shooting my Mossberg 500 that my dad got me when I was 12. He cut 1.5" off the stock so I could shoulder it. The first 3" mag goose load I shot, knocked me @$$ over tea kettle. By the time I was ready to move on, I had refinished the original stock and then had to replace it as it was cracking at the joint with the receiver. It's a great gun and I can't wait for my sons to get into it.

As far as the SBE goes, all I can say is it's an awesome gun. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy one without shooting a few auto's first and spending quality time in the blind with people who own auto's. My hunting buddy is a huge 11-87 fan and owns two 3" models and when they released 3.5" mag last year, he picked one of those up. He loves them. They are a little heavier than the SBE but seem to shoot real nice. He has had a few problems with it, but that may be due to buying a first year production gun.

I haven't had any issues with the action or any misfires. The gun breaks down in less than 20 seconds and you can clean it in the field without worrying about loosing parts. The receiver holds exactly two parts: the bolt and the trigger assembly, that's it. My only comment is that gas guns seem to take the pop out of target loads a little better. If you ever find a SBE for under a grand, I would consider picking it up. I have heard of them being on sale for as little as $800 for the black synthetic stock.

To each their own, at least I can't blame my gun for me missing.

The Pintail is a recoil operated shotgun. As for me I'll take the gas gun. Personally the 391 feels better to me than S.B.E. Bottomline though, no matter how nice your shotgun is, if you can't hit anything with it, then its worthless. I know yesterday I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn if I was standing inside it with my bps. But the old 870 took up the slack.

My wife would kill me if I bought a $1000 gun to go slog around in the mud with! Sure, I know they are the Ferrari of the duck gun world, but I'm a Ford man myself, so I'll stick with my Mossberg 835. I can buy one of these, a case of shells (maybe 2), AND 4 new tires for the cost of one of those buggers.
