Ducks moving around today.

Went out this afternoon and shot 7 ducks and 1 Goose. The weather had the birds working today, there were mostly high flyers with none coming to calling. So we shut up and waited for the ducks to work in on their own. I shot a European Wigeon, now I have to make the choice of weather to have it mounted or not? I don't have the money right now so it will have to go in the freezer for a while.

Way to go Fishalot. Wow, I'd get that bird mounted if I were you. Sounds like you've been doing pretty well lately.

We went out to the Clackamas this morning to try for some birds after the storm. Nothing doing. All the fields are nicely flooded, but most of the birds are gone. We had 3 mallards come in all morning and I shot one. That was it. Bluebird weather, no wind....what a change from yesterday! Clack was running 18.4 this morning. Way, way high. There'll be stading water for quite some time so hopefully some new birds come down in the next few days. I'm on the Deschutes tomorrow. Good luck and see ya later.

That european is a once in a lifetime opportunity! If you have to freeze it for an extended period of time before mounting, put the bird head first into an old pantyhose leg to keep the feathers in good shape.
