Default Swan Hunting

I have heard rumors of oregon and washington thinking of putting a limited entry permit system out for swans. There are currently a few states that already have this system in place.. Has anyone heard anything regarding this?

Haven't heard about it, but I have successfully called in swans on a number of ocassions. The most I've seen in a day was 70 up in Skagit County. I bet they hit the water, or the ground, with a solid thud. Better be careful when shooting them.

From the stories of the Oak Island fiasco earlier this month and the dead one I saw at the Racetrack unit last year on Sauvie's, I think someone else around here has already gotten pretty good at hunting Swans.

Edit: Dogfish, I wasn't implying that you were shooting them just that it happens.

Just to clarify, I called them in, but only to get a cose look at them, not shoot them. The sound of their wings is pretty cool. They creek when they beat.

There are limited swan season in other states, but I don't think I could bring myself to shoot one.

My hunting/fishing buddy is from Montana and they have a limited draw on Tundra Swans. For those that aren't aware, there are two primary types of Swans, Trumpeter's and Tundra's. I can't remember the exact difference, but as if I recall correctly it one of them has a little yellow on the face or head.

I haven't heard of anything as far as swan hunts in OR.
