I almost expect Malcolm McDowell to look up from under that hat.

Johnny Depp is the king of quirky. This has got to be better than the original movie. I remember loving the book when I was a kid.

Re: Oh, How Could they....
The original book is quite a departure from the movie, and if anyone can pull it off Burton can. Honestly, they must have hired Michael Jackson's ex-makeup guru to do Depp's makeup in this movie. Nightmares.

Re: Oh, How Could they....
Charlie was the young boy who was awarded the chocolate factory by Willy Wonka in the first movie. I had mixed feelings about them messing with a classic until I realized that this would be a sequel and not a remake.

Whatever you do, don't turn the sound on if you watch the trailer.... You'll never get that awful Willy Wonka song out of your head!

Re: Oh, How Could they....
WMB- Too late...I watched the clip then read the posts. ARGHH!!!
Randy- I dont see anywhere that this is a sequel...the clip looked very much like a remake to me.
I for one am quite upset because even though the original doesnt follow the book it was a good movie and this is just WEIRD!! Johnny Depp and Tim Burton ??? two extremely warped minds that favor too dark a twist for the Chocolate factory!
Just my $.02

Re: Oh, How Could they....
I have been waiting for this movie for a long time. What a great combo...burton and depp....this movie is going to be an instant classic.
From what I have heard this is not a sequel, but it is going to be closer to the book than the original movie was.
