Default Customizing a Ruger 10-22......?

I've got a 10-22 stainless synt.
with a 32mm 4 X scope.
Thinking about adding a bull barrel, and replacing the trigger mech. with something smoother.
I've seen a few adds I like also.
Anyone know where I can make or order a silencer (no I'm not a poacher) I got a Coyote problem, this way I can get off several shots...thanks....Os

10/22's are awsome. Mines got a bull barrel and Houge OM stock and i love it. I dont think silencers are legal though. Id definatly check before you buy/build one.

Butler Creek has barrel/stock combos that run in the $90-130 range. Check Cabelas and Midway.

For low noise rounds I usually use Aguila SSS (sub sonic sniper) ammo. These are 60 grain .22LR bullets that hit pretty hard and don't upset the neighbors. These rounds are hard to find, sometimes, but I think Larry's Guns on Martin Way has them. I have also used CB longs for the same task, but all of my shots have been within 10 yards when the coyotes popped out of the scotchbroom and into my neighbor's back yard.

Silencers are not legal for use in Washington state, but if you do a seach on "PVC Projects", you might find something on the subject.

Thanks for the "Law education"
I'm just shootin Coyotes, heck I can use a spotlight legally
Normally I would just tape a 1 liter coke bottle over the end (it works in pinch).
but I think they are legal in some states, maybe I just need someone from alabama to help with a better design

Thanks .....Os

I saw a PVC "supressor" in action at a contraban firearms class during my law enforcement days. It was QUITE effective at quieting down a Ruger semi-auto pistol in .22LR. All you heard was a "puff" and the action cycling when using subsonic loads. (Accuracy was a bit of a trick, but if you scoped your 10/22, you should be able to get around that issue.) When they used stingers, you could hear the crack of the bullet as it broke the sound barrier. Nothing will quiet that, so most folks stay subsonic.

Again, not that I condone or support the use of supressors, but look under PVC projects, or gun supressors. That said, keep an eye out for the guys in the black helicopters.

Since you and I are local in the Oly area, I could give you a few of those SSS quiet loads so that you wouldn't have to worry too much about Johnny Law. You could give them a try, and if you like 'em but cant find 'em, I have about 5 boxes. Andy

Thanks Dogfish, for the heads-up,I should refrase that I don't need a silencer....I need a "quieter" for my Ruger.

Ummm PVC sounds like it might work,I also heard to pack the inner-space with steel wool

This way I can pick off those black helicopters

I see you're from the metropolis of McCleary, one of favorite places,A good friend of mine rests there...........Tight Groups and Slow Coyotes...Os

Os,
Want a hot barrel for your 10/22? Contact Dan Lilja at Lilja Precision Rifle Barrels, Inc. in Plains, Montana.

http://www.riflebarrels.com

He makes a sweet match grade drop in barrel for the 10/22. Runs about $300.00 + shipping.

Dan is one of the top barrel producers (and bench rest s*******) in the world. I have shot his barrels for the past 15 years on my bench guns. He is a super guy as well.

I remember seeing an add for a match trigger assembly for the 10/22 in Precision Shooting magazine. It was quite expensive. I think it ran about $250.00 or so. I don't remember if it was made by Jewell or not. I will see if I can find it again.

brshooter,

What kind of bench guns are you shooting? I shoot smallbore with an Anschutz match 54 action and a Schneider stainless barrel. It will hold 10 shot groups inside a dime at 50 meters and inside a quarter at 100 yards.
