Just got back from a short little duck hunt this morning. Finished my finals yesterday and went out this morning to throw out some dekes on a flooded field. I've been hunting this area for many years, but I have to say, this is the best I've ever seen it. I had mallards raining down on me. I was by myself (which was probably good, cause my shooting wasn't too impressive) and was able to shoot my limit by 7:16. Wow! All mallards except for one shovler hen that tricked me. She was right in there w/ the mallards, I swear. Really guys.
As a bonus, the Clackamas river is only 10 yrds away. Can you say: steelhead? Had about 100 geese land out in the field after I'd loaded everything in the truck. Might need to work on them too.
I think I'll be out there for the next few days. I know there are several of you out there who I owe trips. This might be a good time to cash in on that. Can't promise that it will be as awesome as it was this morning, but I think it should hold up for the next few days anyway. If you're interested let me know and we can set up something. See ya.
