Default motor price? 305 chev w/american turbine pump

i have been dealing with a marina on a new boat..they seem to be a little less than honest to say the least. i need a ball park figure on how much a 305 chev 270hp motor with an american turbine sd-309 jet is worth? i would guess 5 to 6 thousand? i want to swap the chevy out for a yamaha outboard. they say it would be another 8,000 to do that, and i call BS...i can get a 150hp yama 4 stroke, on sale, for 10,000...

Sounds like a bad attempt to coerce you into buying the boat they want to sell, rather than the boat you want to buy.

I'm looking at an invoice from a dealer for a 2005 200HP Yamaha 4-stroke- $14165, not counting rigging, prop and install. $8000 more for that I could believe, but not a 150.

Are you planning on buying a inboard jet and repowering with a outboard???
Sounds like a lot of work.
What make and model of boat are you looking at?
I can pm you some buyers info if I know what your looking for. I am not a salesman. I just did a lot of shopping and research b-4 I got the NR.

ya mikey it is a 309 jet.(ford guy w/390 on his mind)
the marina sells a 18 foot weldcraft renegade w/350 chev american turbine pump w/some bells and whistles for 26,000.
i want the same boat with a 150 yamaha 4 stroke pump which they build and the say that boat is 34,000.00---?????
i think they are 4,000 high, ???? the marina told me i wouldnt get that yamaha until as late as september but i could get a honda today, becouse they have a ton of em, i dont want a honda, i made one phone call to browns landing about the yamaha and they had one they would sell me for 9,998.00 on sale, reg. 12,900.00

If the deal sounds "fishy" it probably is. Do some research and find out what another dealer will sell the same outfit for. With the internet you should be able to specify what you want and get a response. DO NOT buy something you are coerced into.

If it's who i think it is..yes, its prob overpriced by 3-4k..Go to the weldcraft website and call around a get pricing. And yes, Yami F150's are in short supply right now. Most dealers are out..
