I don't know first hand, but the Willamete is supposed to be pretty decent through there. Smallies and trout available. I believe march browns are still hatching and bwo's should be around as well for some dry fly action.

Re: trout any time soon?
Cliff, its 110% wrong to target juvenile anadromous fish. There is incidental mortality. Smolt have a noble and challenging life ahead of them. Let them be.

Absolutely correct! Please do not target these fish as they will readily take a fly and there is a high incidence of mortality in hooking them.

Re: trout any time soon?
Cliff,
I know you love being on the water, and I know you care about the resource, so listen to these guys. They are right! Step back, let the smolts head down the river, and be there to catch 'em when they come back as heavyweights. It's well worth the wait!
And when coho season opens off-shore, I'll take you out to try some flyrodding for 'em in the salt. Hoooooo Booooooy!

Thank you Cliff With different species of smolt migrating downstream at different times they are present most of the year.
The Kilchis this summer will be full of chum salmon smolt that will not leave your fly alone at times.
The Trask has steelhead smolt present during the fall.
You just need to learn to avoid them whenever possible and continue to use barbless hooks.

Re: trout any time soon?
Cliff, they usually hang out together so if you find some just move.

Re: trout any time soon?
I cought so many trout Saturday I lost count after 30 or so. My fishing partner landed a Crappie that measured
14 1/2inches.
OFC property of course.
