Default So Cal tuna report

Any of you see this? From "Reel time reports" in Southern Cal.? I was skeptical at first, so I pulled up the Terrafin for that area:

"Reel Time Reports 3/31/05"

Good Morning everybody,
Lots of boats on the water this morning! We should have some catch reports coming in real soon

Weather is awesome, Dead FLAT and calm wind

Here we go.. A PBer is reporting a wide open kelp between the 425 and the 302 6:21am

The 390 is reported to be a parking lot 6:45am

Newport sportie got a double jig stop out near San Clemente Island 6:50am

And here's the big news. That huge warm water plume that has been inching up the coast has finally popped.

The "Silver Bullet" was the first day boat to the offshore banks. He stopped just short of the Butterfly in 68 degree water, and immediately had a triple jig strike, and landed 2 of 3 albacore around 10 lbs each. Last we heard from him he had 12 in the box!!!

PBer on the Nine stopped on a really sharp temp break at the Tanner, birds working all over the place, and had a WIDE OPEN stop on albacore (mostly peanuts with a few 15 lb'ers thrown in). Calling his buddies in on the action 7:23am.

Continuation from above report: "It's still WIDE OPEN on the Tanner! I'm in a white 25ft Parker and I 've gone thru all my bait. " The're eating everything we throw at them Iron, Bait you name it! Another Boat has slid in on them and It's wide open for them too!" 32/42 + 118/58 9:11am

We haven't heard of albies this thick, this early since the last El Nino....so get out there NOW!!

The "Bite Me" reports a 40lb Dorado! 10:19am

Another report Great White at the Coronados. If true this is great news for the Islands 12:10pm

Tuna Slam "down the line and out" for a couple but kinda slow out that way 12:35pm

Another killer Kelp @ 31.54 + 117.30 Big one, "The size of a large sport boat" loaded with Dorado and Yellowtail 12:56pm

The "Gambler" with a Tag and Release Marlin 1:33pm

Another hot Kelp out a mile to the west of the 371. A Pber reporting Limits of Yellowtail and Dorado and is passing it off to another boat 3:55pm

A San Diego 3/4 sportboat calling in with Larger Yellows (25lber's)from up off Cardiff/Del Mar areas 4:21pm

Report of Jumpers a few miles the east end of San Clemente Island 4:49pm

What a Day!!
Lots of boats on the water, the weather was terrific all day too! What a combo! Can it get any better than this? These early albies looks VERY promising! Who says wait for Memorial Day? Those that do often miss the very best early fishing of the year like we are having RIGHT NOW!
Wish I could have been out there today!!! But I'm going to have to wait till my 3 Day in May.

Well I'll be back tomorrow with more report's as they happen in "REEL TIME"
Good Night and Tight Lines,

Danny

Ah, Mark, is this another April Fool posting? Cruel, very cruel, even if true. here we are with swells darn near as high as my boat is long and you give us a report of flat seas, calm winds, and SUPER DUPER FISHING!
AAAhhhhhhhhhhh, not nice. I'm going to have to limit myself to visiting this board once a month for my mental health! That's the bad thing about being retired, having the time to go fishing and the weather won't co-operate. and then you have to rub it in with a report like this and make the longing for fishing worse!

If I was retired I would be dragging that boat to Mexico.

Actually, being the skeptic I am, I thought it was an April Fools joke when I read the report off the So Cal board. That's why I checked the Terrafin, and it jives with the water temp reports in the area they claim to have caught the albies.

Hey Mark are you a subscriber to the Terrafin service? The reason I ask is that the map of SoCal that you posted is quite different that what it provides on the free image of SoCal waters. Do they post the underwater structure/banks all over the West Coast (Oregon), if you are a subscriber? On the SoCal map you posted, I can't even see the coast, all I see are the underwater features. Thanks.

JackS, if you are a subscriber then you have access to the "zoom in" shots, which also show more detail of the shelf lines. The Terrafin folks have also taken input from their customers to include landmarks / towns on the coast, for references. For example they have a shot that shows from about Florence to Lincoln City, with a little dot for Depoe Bay.

The "latest shots" part of the website lists all the zoom-in images:
