Puffin rides again
A beautiful day on the Sandy today. Started the day with a good breakfast and coffee at my fishing buddies. Dropped the rig at Dabney and launched the boat about eleven. Two trailers in the lot and beautiful water color. Fished a couple of holes and picked up a nice native steelie about 6 or 7 pounds. This was the first fish since I had back surgery in September and it felt good. we fished a few more holes and hooked up a nice Chinook talk about good. This fish had half the spool emptied by the time we cleared the gear and got to calm water. Another native great fight and no regrets. Banner day good fishing and company not a drop of rain. We pulled the boat out and some guy at the ramp tells me he knows me. No I say I don't think so oh yea he says "you're Puffin". Sure enough I am. Greg Otis was the mystery man. We finished the day with dinner at the Olive Garden very fat and very happy agreeing that we both live charmed lives.

Glad to hear you're back John! A few more warm up trips like that and you should be ready for the salt again. Sorry to hear Captain Kujo will have to go through the same thing! :depressed: I hope he recovers as well as you seem to have.

Re: Puffin rides again
KJ, say it isn't so. Hope you recover quickly. I know Puffin was pretty apprehensive before he went in but now is like a new man. He put up with back pain for years and now much better.
We'll miss you offshore bro.
Hey Jon, good deal. That springer still taste good? Way to go man. Say hi to Mark or Huey, whoever you went with. How's your recovery going?

Re: Puffin rides again
KJ who's doing the cutting and what blew out. Mine was L3-4. Some pain still but nothing like b4. Let me know where you will be and I will try to visit. First 6 weeks you will go stircrazy as you are not allowed to do anything. Get one of these monthly all you can rent deals at the video shop and watch videos and tie rigs. The fish will be waiting when you heal best to not dissapoint them.

Re: Puffin rides again
Kujo and Puffin - I had the same thing (probably for the same reason) best thing I ever did. Lived with the pain for 5 years, instant relief following surgery, and today its 95% of what it was before. Plus I learned how not to screw it up again.
You both are welcome to conveles in my boat (on flat water) any time.

Re: Puffin rides again
KJ
I had the ray cage fusion surgery on L4/L5 in 2000. Best move I made too. They all say surgery is the last resort but it definately worked for me. Seems like it was about 6 weeks before full recovery. If you can stand motoring at something less than 60kts give me a call and you can ride in some air seats this summer.

Re: Puffin rides again
Welcome back Puffin.
Sorry to hear you are having trouble KJ.
Anytime someone mentions emergency back surgery , I have a flash back and cant help but have real empathy for you and your situation.
We are all rooting for you and Im sure you will feel better after its done. It takes a long while to heal , be patient and dont over do , getting healed right is key to recovery.
Just wondering what they are going to do to ya and where in your back is the trouble?
How did you do it ??
Wishing you well. id.p
