Training Older Dogs ????

Are there specific books for training older dogs (2 years) to hunt, or would I use the same books that they use for pups?

Use the same books. You may be able to bring the dog along alittle quicker at the start but will have to identify the point were you will be training new things. Remember take it easy.

One of the basic concepts is does your dog know how to learn. Training goes easier if the dog knows what there are times when they must learn. Getting the dog to the "willing student" phase can help a lot.Just 5-10 minutes a day, a little at a time. Basics...

Yes this dog is very smart and can learn. It is a pure bread Golden... funny thing is , this dog was bread as a seeing eye dog. It is supposably my wife's dog and she say's I can't hunt her.... Well this dog retreives as well as my lab, only I think this doig is smarter than my lab. Now she just needs some field training. I'll have to take her hunting when the wife's not home....hahaha

Seeing eye dogs are bred for smarts, smart dogs know how to use their tools. Now on the other hand a Golden Smarter than a lab? Maybe at sneakin' into your lunch and stealin' your sandwich.
