Default Washington unit 284 info? Kahlotus

I have a few weeks of vacation coming up and I may plan on heading east of teh mountains for a few days.

Anyone have any ideas on where I might find some deer habitat over there? The unit is just east of hwy 17, north of hwy 26 between Moses Lake and the southern end of Sprague lake.

TW, you lived over there for a while, got any ideas? I may hunt for Whitetail or Mule deer does with my muzzleloader. I am thinking of combining this with a duck/pheasant hunt.

Thanks in advance.

Dog,

Well I could help you out with a mule deer doe at black rock lake (if it's in the area), but you can't shoot a muley. Whitetail only. I just checked the regs since I wasn't familiar with GMU 284. That's one area I hadn't hunted much since it's just miles of wheat fields and flat with no water (or not much anyway on the west side of 284). I went to college at EWU and there were deer over on that side of your unit. The further East you go the better. Sprague Lake I see is in your unit. There is deer in those scablands. That's what you want - scablands or canyons.

I'm hunting Muzzle Loader, not modern rifle, so both mulies and whitetails are open. 3-point or better bucks, or antlerless for both mule and whitetail.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Now I just have to get over there.

Your right. I missed the muley section...Black rock lake isn't in your area, but I still think the N.East side of the unit is best(just looked at the map). If not, the unit is small enough that you can scout the whole thing in a day while road hunting. Have fun. This years muley's are mighty fine tasting. good luck.
